The 2005–06 Teen Advisory Board launched the first INterpret project at The Noguchi Museum. The event was advertised in the Daily News and New York Times, inviting high school students to explore and discuss The Noguchi Museum and special exhibition The Imagery of Chess Revisited. Attendees were invited to create individual works of art and a collaborative mixed-media installation piece. Music was provided by local DJs Esen and Sense3, and refreshments were served. To complement the event, TAB distributed a pamphlet which included images of Noguchi’s work with description and quotes, alongside their own personal interpretations and reflections. TAB also visited local art institutions MoMA PS 1 and Socrates Sculpture Park during the year. During monthly meetings, TAB engaged in hands-on art-making activities such as gallery sketching and sculpting, while examining and defining their role as high school student ambassadors to The Noguchi Museum.
