Opening Reception for ‘A Living Mechanism: The Noguchi Museum Staff Exhibition’

Friday, June 2, 2023
5:30 pm–8 pm
Free, in the Education Studio (Level C)

All are welcome to join the opening reception for A Living Mechanism, an exhibition of artworks by Noguchi Museum staff curated by artists Orlando Lacro and Shamysia Waterman, both of whom work as gallery attendants.

A Living Mechanism celebrates The Noguchi Museum as a total work of art and the diverse artistic perspectives of its staff that continuously energize and sustain it. With a memory towards Isamu Noguchi’s own eagerness in collaborating with an astonishing range of other artists, architects, manufacturers, gardeners, photographers, craftspeople, and others in realizing his visions, A Living Mechanism nods to how this spirit of collective effort continues today.

The reception will feature a performance by Madame Maelstrom (aka playwright and Noguchi Museum educator Holly Hepp-Galván), a psychic comedian who manipulates math and minds. Join her for a magical session where she will demonstrate her unique powers and reveal guests’ inner secrets.

Free as part of Free First Friday; no RSVP is required.

Beverages for the opening reception of A Living Mechanism are generously provided by Lunar Hard Seltzer.
