U.S. Pavilion Expo ’70

1968
Metal, Paint, Plaster
I was asked to enter the competition for the United States Pavilion for the 1970 World’s Fair in Osaka, Japan. My entry, made with the assistance of Shoji Sadao, was, of course, not that of architecture and may have been a mistake because it was not selected. However, this loss was more than compensated for when Kenzo Tange asked me to do all the great fountains, which would extend over three pools for about a quarter of a mile.
