On second Saturdays in summer 2024, join us for free admission days with special programming to celebrate “love and labor” and solidarity with the AANHPI community. Advance reservations are recommended; visitors without a reservation will also be welcomed based on museum capacity.

Events Schedule

10 am–12:30 pm: Sketching with David Huang
Join David Huang, winner of The Noguchi Museum’s 2024 Open Call for Artist Banners, for an artist-led workshop that explores drawing from observation and imagination. Participants will create sketches in the sculpture garden and consider how art making is connected to lived experience and the world around us.

For visitors ages 12 and up; children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Free; advance registration is required. Program registration includes admission to the Museum.

1–5 pm: Gallery Kit
Visitors of all ages are invited to an art-making activity in the galleries.

2–3 pm: Public Tour
An introduction to the life and vision of Isamu Noguchi, exploring highlights of the Museum and the Open Call for Artist Banners project. 

3–3:30 pm: Touch, Rattle, Hold 
Join an educator-led touch experience with a selection of Toshiko Takaezu’s closed ceramic forms. Sign up at the front desk.

4–6 pm: Artist Banner Films
Films about the finalists of the 2024 Open Call for Artist Banners will be screened in the Education Studio (Level C). Videos by Xuan Films

Hands Toward the Universe

David Huang, Hands Toward the Universe, 2024

David Huang is an illustrator and designer who graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 2017. He has been illustrating since then. He also earned a certificate from Type West for type design. His works have been recognized by 3×3, American Illustration, World Illustration Awards, and Society of Illustrators. His clients include New York Times, New Yorker, Boston Globe, Chobani, Quartz, Vox, Citi Bank, AARP, Hyundai, AngelList, Die Zeit, Curbed, The Verge, LA Times, Culture Trip, Bandcamp and many more.

He grew up in Taipei and spends most of his time in three places close to his heart: New York, London, and the Bay Area. When he isn’t illustrating, he enjoys taking the subway to try out restaurants, dancing on the weekends, learning new languages intensively, and searching for random historical facts on Wikipedia. david-huang.com | @omguac
