Manazuru stone
This stone, which I first saw used in the graveyards of Tokyo, is from Manazuru. I have sometimes referred to it as jasper since it resembles it in definition. Old ritual objects in Japan are said to be made from it. At other times I have called it andesite, but it comes from Manazuru near Odawara. This is the biggest boulder of its kind I have used so far. Its carving was entirely dictated by the given stone.
