Practice Rocks in Placement

1982 - 1983
Aji granite
In an exercise in the placement of rocks, improvisation at its peak comes only once. This is not sculpture but rocks which had been practice pointed by apprentices and positioned by me. Impersonal parts that became a whole, like beads that make a necklace. It is synergy, as Bucky claimed, that makes a whole which is more than its parts.
