Hands-On at Noguchi | Shaping Soft Stone

Sunday, June 17, 2018 - 10:00am - 6:00pm

Isamu Noguchi wrote, “Carving follows the possibilities inherent to the stone.” Beginning in the mid-1960’s Noguchi began to work spontaneously, interacting with his material and the unforeseen consequences of his process. Participants in this intensive, all-day program will spend time looking at and discussing Noguchi’s works of stone in the Museum’s galleries, and then learn techniques for working with soft stone to create their own sculptures.

Previous experience is not necessary. Space is limited and advance registration is required. For ages 18 and older. $10 for members / $20 for non-members; includes full admission to the Museum.
