Hands-On at Noguchi: Shaping Soft Stone (Part 1)

Sunday, November 13, 2016 - 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Noguchi wrote, “Carving follows the possibilities inherent to the stone.” Beginning in the mid-1960’s Noguchi began to work spontaneously, interacting with his material and the unforeseen consequences of his process. Participants in this two-part program will spend time looking at and discussing Noguchi’s works of stone in the Museum’s galleries, and then learn techniques for working with soft stone to create their own sculptures.

Second session: November 20, 2016, 1 pm–5 pm

Previous experience is not necessary. Space is limited and advance registration is required. $20 members, $40 non-members (includes both sessions).
