Hands-On at Noguchi: Shaping Soft Stone

Sunday, June 11, 2017 - 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Isamu Noguchi wrote, “Carving follows the possibilities inherent to the stone.” Beginning in the mid-1960s, he began to work spontaneously, interacting with his material and the unforeseen consequences of his process. Participants in this program will spend time looking at and discussing Noguchi’s works of stone in the Museum’s galleries, and then learn basic techniques for working with soft stone.

Previous experience is not necessary. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Ages 18 and older. $10 members, $20 non-members. Program fee includes full admission to the Museum.
