Hands-On at Noguchi | Hand-building with Clay

Sunday, April 17, 2016 - 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Isamu Noguchi wrote, "The attractions of ceramics lie partly in its contradictions. It is both difficult and easy, with an element beyond our control. It is both extremely fragile and durable." Participants in this program will spend time looking at and discussing clay works by Noguchi and other artists in the Museum's galleries, then will learn how to hand build from slabs of clay to create their own functional or ornamental sculpture.

Hands-On workshops for adults encourage participants to explore their own creativity with materials and processes, while actively making connections between works on view in the Museum's galleries. Previous experience is not necessary. Space is limited and advanced registration is required. The program cost is $8 per participant for materials in addition to Museum admission. This fee is waived for all Noguchi Museum members. To learn more or register, email [email protected] or call 718.204.7088, extension 203. To learn more about membership please click here.
