Free First Friday

On the first Friday of every month year-round, Museum admission is free all day. Extended First Friday evening hours begin in May.

 

Tours of the Museum and highlights of its collection and special exhibitions are offered at 2 pm, in English and Japanese.

Film Screening: ‘Membra Disjecta: Gonzalo Fonseca and the Heart of Stone’ with Director Michael Gregory

Membra Disjecta: Gonzalo Fonseca and the Heart of Stone, a new biographical film by Michael Gregory, will receive a special advance screening at The Noguchi Museum in conjunction with The Sculpture of Gonzalo Fonseca. Membra Disjecta is a journey through the distinguished life of the artist Gonzalo Fonseca (1922–97), exploring his myriad influences from history, literature, archeology, art, architecture, music, travel, relationships and conversations. It includes the art Fonseca created and the material that filled his captivating life and timeless mind.

A reception and conversation with Michael Gregory and Senior Curator Dakin Hart will follow the screening, and the Museum galleries will be open during the reception.

Noguchi Council | Travel Program to San Francisco

Each October, this citywide event unlocks the doors of New York’s most important buildings, offering an opportunity to meet the people who design, build, and preserve New York. 1 pm: Curator’s Tour of Self-Interned, 1942

Join The Noguchi Museum’s curators Dakin Hart and Matthew Kirsch on a tour of the exhibition Self-Interned, 1942, which explores Isamu Noguchi’s voluntary incarceration in a Japanese American internment camp and the influences of the experience in his later work.

 

2 pm: Museum Tour
An educator-led tour focusing on the Museum's history, highlights of its collection, and special exhibitions.

 

3 pm: Architecture Tour with Jennifer Sage
Sage and Coombe Architects worked with The Noguchi Museum for more than a decade to preserve and modernize Noguchi’s iconic building and garden—allowing the Museum to remain open year-round and meet rigorous accessibility standards while maintaining its character. Join principal Jennifer Sage, FAIA LEED AP, for an insider’s look at the project, completed in 2016.
