Isamu Noguchi returned to Japan throughout his life and was inspired by the cultural emphasis on nature. In 1953 he wrote, “Whatever quality my work now has is I hope that of nature—that is to say the result of our communion.” Explore the natural colors found in Noguchi’s work and then join visiting artist Shiro Oe in the studio to dye a silk scarf using traditional techniques Nishijin-kasuri and Nishijin-ori, a type of weaving and dyeing originating from Kyoto.

Ages 18 and older. Previous experience is not necessary. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Program fee includes admission to the Museum and materials.
