Free Gallery Talks
Free educator-led gallery talks take place at 2:00 pm, Wednesday through Sunday, and are open to all individual visitors. Reservations are not required.



Free Gallery Talks in Japanese
As part of the Second Sundays series of public programs, free guided tours are available in Japanese on the second Sunday of every month. Tours take place at 2:00 pm and are open to all individual visitors. Reservations are not required.

Beginning in October and throughout the Design: Isamu Noguchi and Isamu Kenmochi exhibition, free tours will also be available on our Free First Fridays at 2:00 pm.

Group Visits
The Museum offers guided interactive tours for groups of all ages and abilities. Tours are conducted by Museum educators and explore select works in the Museum’s collection and special exhibitions while introducing the life and vision of Isamu Noguchi. In keeping with Noguchi’s interest in the visitor’s personal experience of the Museum, groups will be encouraged to share their observations and interpretations throughout the course of the tour. Tours last approximately one hour and are available in English and Japanese.

Tours may be scheduled in advance through the Education Department and are available in Japanese and Spanish upon request. A minimum of 10 people is required to comprise a group. Tour fees are as follows:

Adults - $12 per person
Seniors - $10 per person
College students - $10 per person
Japanese and Spanish Language Tours - $15 per person

Tours are free for groups with special needs (see below).

The Noguchi Museum is committed to enabling all visitors to experience the art and environment created by Isamu Noguchi. Guided tours and art workshops which are carefully designed to meet the needs of particular groups are available for groups of all ages. Planned in conjunction with the visiting group's coordinator, these programs provide appropriate and accessible entry points into Noguchi’s art work using visual, verbal and tactile demonstrations and encourage participants to engage in meaningful dialogues within the Museum space.

In addition to guided tours and hands-on workshops, the following services and programs are offered to provide as inclusive an environment as possible:

  • Touch Tours that invite visitors who are blind and partially sighted to experience Noguchi's sculptures with their hands may be scheduled in advance for groups or individuals. Tactile diagrams of selected works by Noguchi are also available upon request.
  • FM headsets for sound amplification are available during all tours.
  • Sign language interpretation is available upon request for all private and public programs.
  • Tactile diagrams of selected works by Noguchi are available upon request.
  • The Museum galleries are entirely wheelchair accessible. A wheelchair may be reserved in advance for visitor use.
  • Restrooms are wheelchair accessible and water is available from the Cafe.

Free guided tours are carefully designed to meet the needs of particular groups. Planned in conjunction with the visiting group's coordinator, these programs invite children, teens and adults to engage in meaningful dialogues with the work of Isamu Noguchi. The artist's work is presented in an appropriate and accessible way using visual, verbal and tactile demonstrations as needed.

 

The Museum’s free gallery talks and guided tours are supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, William Randolph Hearst Foundation, Independence Community Foundation, and an anonymous foundation. The Japanese language tours are supported with a generous grant from the United States-Japan Foundation.
