In 1936 Isamu Noguchi traveled to Mexico City to work on his first public sculpture, a 72-foot relief mural in the Abelardo Rodriguez Market. Entitled History Mexico, the work depicts the triumph of workers and peasants over Fascism. It took Noguchi seven months to complete this project, which is his most political sculpture.
