The Noguchi Museum - General Information : Directions

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to construction, The Noguchi Museum will be closed from September 3 – September 14, 2008. We will re-open at 10 am on Wednesday, September 17, 2008. Music in the Galleries scheduled for September 14 will instead be held on September 21. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Take the N or W train to the Broadway stop in Queens. Walk ten blocks down Broadway towards the Manhattan skyline and the East River. Broadway ends at Vernon Boulevard at the Socrates Sculpture Park. Turn left onto Vernon Blvd. Please Note: Do not make the immediate left, which is 11th Street. Walk past the Socrates Sculpture Park Offices and make a left. The Museum will be two blocks further on the left at 33rd Road. The museum entrance is at 9-01 33rd Road, between Vernon Boulevard and 10th Street.

Take the F Train to the Queensbridge-21st street stop. Exit train at 21st street and 41st Avenue. Then take the Q69 Bus Northbound to Broadway. Exit at Broadway and 21st street. After exiting the bus, walk 4 blocks down Broadway towards the Manhattan skyline and the East River. Broadway ends at Vernon Boulevard at the Socrates Sculpture Park. Turn left onto Vernon Blvd. Please Note: Do not make the immediate left, which is 11th Street. Walk past the Socrates Sculpture Park Offices and make a left. The Museum will be two blocks further on the left at 33rd Road. The museum entrance is at 9-01 33rd Road, between Vernon Boulevard and 10th Street.

Travel to the Museum the way that Isamu Noguchi did!
Take the Roosevelt Island Tram from 59th Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan across the East River to Roosevelt Island. (You can use your MetroCard!) Exit the tram and either walk North about 1/2 mile on Main Street to the Roosevelt Island Bridge, or hop on the shuttle bus just outside the Tram that regularly circles the island (25 cents, exact change), and exit the bus at the Roosevelt Island Bridge. Walk across the bridge to Vernon Boulevard. Make a left on Vernon Boulevard and walk north 3 blocks to 33rd Road. The entry is at 9-01 33rd Road, between Vernon Boulevard and 10th Street. The walk from the Tram is about 40 minutes; the walk from the bridge is about 10 minutes. Great for a leisurely summer day.

Wednesdays through Fridays you may also take the 7 train to the Vernon-Jackson stop in Queens. Take the Vernon Boulevard exit and walk one block north on Vernon toward 50th Avenue, where there is a Q103 bus stop in front of the Brasil Coffee House. The Q103 runs along Vernon Boulevard and makes a stop at Vernon Boulevard and 33rd Road. After exiting the bus, turn right and make an immediate left onto 33rd Road. The museum entrance will be on your left. The Q103 runs about once an hour, so please visit http://www.mta.info/busco/schedules/index.html#qns for schedules and information.

The Noguchi Museum offers Sunday shuttle bus service between the Museum and Manhattan.

The bus leaves Manhattan for the Museum from the northeast corner of Park Avenue and 70th Street (in front of the Asia Society). The return bus leaves from the entrance to The Noguchi Museum at 9-01 33rd Road (at Vernon Boulevard) and discharges passengers at Park Avenue and 70th Street.

The trip takes approximately thirty minutes one-way.

The Bus runs on Sundays only.

Fare:
$5.00 for one-way, $10.00 for round-trip. Museum admission is NOT included.

Schedule:
Pick-ups in Manhattan (in front of Asia Society) at 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm, and 3:30pm.
Return trips from The Noguchi Museum at 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm, and 5:00pm.

The bus holds twenty-five passengers, seated on a first come, first served basis.

From Manhattan:
Queensboro Bridge upper level, exit at 21st Street. Turn right onto 21st street and go north to Broadway. Turn left on Broadway. Broadway will dead-end at Vernon Boulevard. Turn left onto Vernon Boulevard. The Museum will be two blocks further on the left at 33rd Road.

Queensboro Bridge lower level, stay in the right lane when exiting off the bridge and turn right immediately onto 27th Street. Go approximately three blocks and make a right onto 43rd Avenue. Go four blocks and make a right onto 21st Street. Follow 21st Street north to Broadway. Turn left onto Broadway. Broadway will dead-end at Vernon Boulevard. Turn left onto Vernon Blvd. The Museum will be two blocks further on the left at 33rd Road.

Triborough Bridge, take the first exit in Queens (Astoria Boulevard). Take first right onto 31st Street. Follow 31st Street south to Broadway. Turn right onto Broadway. Follow Broadway to the intersection of Vernon Blvd. Turn left onto Vernon Boulevard. The Museum will be two blocks further on your left at 33rd Road.

Midtown Tunnel, stay right as you exit the tunnel and take Exit 14: "21st Street/Long Island City". Follow 21st Street north to Broadway. Turn left onto Broadway. Broadway will dead-end at Vernon Boulevard. Turn left onto Vernon Boulevard. The Museum is two blocks further on your left at 33rd Road.

From the Long Island Expressway Westbound:
Take Exit 15 "Van Dam Street" (this is the last exit before the tollbooth for the Midtown Tunnel). Make a right at the first light, Van Dam Street. Go one block and then make a left onto Hunter's Point Avenue. Proceed along Hunter's Point Avenue and make a right onto 21st Street. Follow 21st Street north to Broadway. Turn left onto Broadway. Proceed on Broadway to the intersection of Vernon Boulevard. Turn left onto Vernon Boulevard. The museum is two blocks further on your left at 33rd Road.

From the Brooklyn Queens Expressway Eastbound:
Take the McGuiness Boulevard exit. At the bottom of the exit ramp make a left onto McGuiness Blvd. North. Continue on McGuiness Blvd. across the Pulaski Bridge. As you come off the bridge, turn right onto Jackson Avenue. Proceed along Jackson Avenue to the intersection of 21st Street. Turn left onto 21st Street and follow north to Broadway. Turn left onto Broadway. Broadway will dead-end at Vernon Boulevard. Turn left onto Vernon Boulevard. The museum is two blocks further on your left at 33rd Road.

From the Brooklyn Queens Expressway Westbound:
Exit at the Long Island Expressway Westbound. Continue to Exit 15: "Van Dam St.", the last exit before the tollbooth for the Midtown Tunnel. Make a right at the 1st light, Van Dam St. Go one block and then make a left onto Hunter's Point Ave. Continue along Hunter's Point Avenue and make a right onto 21st St. Follow 21st Street north to Broadway. Turn left onto Broadway. Broadway will dead-end at Vernon Boulevard. Turn left onto Vernon Boulevard. The museum is two blocks further on your left at 33rd Road.

Parking:
The Museum does not have a parking garage. However, parking is often available on the blocks around the museum.
