School and Community Partnership Volunteer
Program Description
The Noguchi Museum particpates in a variety of school and community partnership. Upcoming partnerships that require volunteer support are listed below:
Residency at PS 122
This six-session residency is a partnership with fourth grade students and teachers at PS 122 in Astoria, Queens. This is the 5th year of the partnership.
Dates and location: Tuesdays from approximately 8:30am - 3pm , April 30, May 7, 14, 21, 28, and June 4 from 2:45 - 4:15pm. Sessions takes place at PS 122 in Astoria. There will also be field trips to the Museum, dates TBD.
Responsibilites
Volunteers assist with materials preparation and clean up, and help indiviual participants as needed.
Time Commitment
Volunteers commit to attending every session, including arriving early to help set up and staying for a few minutes afterwards to help clean up
Qualifications
Partnership Program volunteers ideally have experience working with art materials and with either children or seniors in a museum, community organization or school setting.
Benefits
All volunteers who commit to at least 15 hours over a 6 month period receive benefits such as:
- A volunteer identification card; generally, other museums honor these ID cards by allowing the card-holder free admission.
- An invitation to the annual Holiday reception at The Noguchi Museum.
