Open Studio Volunteer
Responsibilities
- Greeting families and orienting them to the program
- Working with families in the workshop space and the galleries
- Distrubting and cleaning up materials
- Helping families with wayfinding and information as needed in the Museum.
Time Commitment
The first Sunday of every month; volunteers must commit to at least four of the six Open Studio sessions in a six-month period. Program is from 11 to 1; volunteers must arrive promptly at 9:30am, and stay until 2pm. This includes set-up and clean-up as well as a reflection meeting over lunch (provided).
Qualifications
The Open Studio Volunteer Program is a combined volunteer/training program for aspiring museum and art educators. The ideal candidate is an art or museum education master's candidate at a local university. Candidates must have experience working with children in an educational setting such as a school, camp, or museum.
Benefits
The Open Studio Volunteer Program is conceived as a training and discussion program, as well as a volunteer opportunity. Volunteers receive relevant readings and engage in discussions about best practices in museum family programming.
All Noguchi Museum volunteers who commit to at least 15 hours over a 6 month period recieve:
- A volunteer identification card; generally, other museums honor these ID cards by allowing the card-holder free admission.
- An invitation to an annual holiday reception at The Noguchi Museum.
