Request for Guided Tour for School Groups

The Museum is now accepting requests for school tours to occur through June, 2013.  Appointments can be made no less than 3 weeks in advance.  A separate form must be submitted for each requested visit date with information about the classes visiting that day. Please do not fill out the form per class if you are bringing more than one class per visit date. We can accept up to 60 students per visit.

We will do our best to accommodate your request.  Please note, your tour is not confirmed until you have received an email comfirmation from the Museum.

Step 1: Your Group

Include teacher. We require 1 chaperone per 10 students and a maximum of 5 chaperones for every class.

Learning Styles and Classroom Connections
Step 2: The Visit

Programs at The Noguchi Museum are inquiry-based, exploratory experiences. Tours last approximately one hour and stop at 3-5 works of art.  Groups may also a request a hands on art making workshop that brings the chosen theme of the tour into the studio.  A tour and workshop lasts approximately 90 minutes. A one-time visit to the Museum is free for all New York City public school classes. For independent schools, or those outside of New York City, the fee for a guided tour is $5 per student with a minimum of 15 students. Chaperones are free.  Groups interested in participating in a hands-on art making workshop following their guided tours may do so for an additional fee of $75 per class (up to 30 students).

In addition, a Noguchi Educator can come to your classroom before a Museum visit to prepare students, or after your visit to extend the art experience.  Pre- and post-visits are planned by educators in response to the tour theme selected, as well as information you share about your students and classroom curriculum.  Pre- and post-visits are 45 minutes each. The cost for each is $100 for one class, $150 for two classes. Pre- and post-visits must be booked at the same time as your tour.

Date and Time Preference

Tours and workshops are not available on Mondays or Tuesdays.  A guided tour lasts approximately one hour, a tour + workshop approximately 90 minutes. Both are offered Wednesday-Friday, between the hours of 10am and 5pm*, and Saturday-Sunday, between the hours of 11am and 6pm.*   *Exception: there are no tours available 2pm-3pm any day as this conflicts with the daily Public Gallery Talk.

Step 3: Contact Information
School Information
Teacher Information

We require contact information for the teacher accompanying the group.

Please provide any other information we should know about your requested visit, such as flexibility in date or arrival time and group size, multiple requests, or specific requests for the content of the tour and or workshop such as art materials or art works desired to be included on the tour, in the space above.

Step 4: Terms and Conditions

Your tour will not be confirmed until you have agreed to our cancellation and lateness policy, given credit card information, and received an email confirmation.

Cancellation and Lateness Policy

1. To cancel or change your reserved time to visit the Museum, please notify us as soon as possible. We will try to accommodate your group on a new day or time as our schedule allows.

2. Cancellations with less than two weeks notice, will result in a $40 cancellation fee.

3. Cancellations with less than three days notice, will result in a cancellation fee equivalent to the educator costs associated with your visit unless cancellation is due to unforeseen school closures or extreme weather conditions. (Educator fees vary depending on class size and program; a tour and workshop for a class of thirty, costs the museum $200)

4. If your group decreases by 10 or more in size, you must notify us at least two days in advance to receive a refund for those visitors, otherwise you are still responsible for the price of the original group size.

Credit Card Information

In order to confirm your visit to The Noguchi Museum, we must receive credit card information. The credit card will not be charged until the day of your visit, when you will have the option of replacing the credit card with another form of payment.
